STR ADVENTURE : JOURNEY INTO THE WOODS

What can be better than : A place full of positive vibes ? A place where you could find the real meaning of calmness ? A place where you can relax completely ? A place connected with flora & fauna ? An ideal place for nature & wildlife lovers ? A place where you can see clear water flowing and many colourul fishes in it ?  A place where you can admire sky full of twinkling stars ?

I found all these things at one place - Satpura Tiger Reserve (STR).Our journey started from Bhopal.I was exited for my safari. We all left with full enthusiasm.During my whole journey , I was surrounded by forest on my both sides .

"The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness."

Satpura mountains have seven moutains with different names:Machel,Mahadev,Kalibheet,Aseergadh,
Beejagadh,Badhwani,Akhrani.Satpura jungles are very beautiful & they are important for sustaining livelihood as water, wind are vital for one's living.Jungles are very imortant and needed to maintain "Tip to Tap" phenomenon.

Jungle was of ture a mixture of trees , some were green & some were dry.My  uncle explaines me the concept of transpiration that the trees adopt. They loose their leaves in summers.Beautiful birds chirping around (woodpecker,neelkanth,racket-tailed).I saw of  group of  deer twice during my safari. There were many monkeys swinging everywhere.

How can i forget the beauty of the jungle : Peacock. We saw something moving infront of us and ,as we went near we saw a huge bear moving into the jungle. We spotted a location where we saw bisens of different generation.Among them the small bisens didn't have socks. We saw turtles & crocodiles near a pond . Crocodile was resting near a log of wood with his mouth open.

After safari , we went to our resthouse .It's scenic beauty can't be pened down in words.Beauty was felt by me.Water flowing, big trees with green leaves, the swing, those small huts, the delicious food, the fresh fruits.Beauty of night was something to take note , night was full of cold breeze. We were planning to sleep outside our room but dropped the idea keeping in mind the tigers present in STR.

Next day , we saw the beautiful sunrise & after having tea proceeded towars Nagdwari.Nagdwari was very soothing place.Water was flowing with full of energy , flowing in organised manner.Water was crystal clear with many coloured fishes in it . We saw Mahseer which is considered as tiger fish of fresh water declared as state fish of M.P.

Mahseer species, the national heritage of India are globally acclaimed sport and table fish(Mahi-a fish , and sher-a lion ).Mahseer inhabit prestine freshwater equated with untamed wilderness & are therefore consided indicators of healthy freshwater ecosystem. The Brahmins valued this fish, for propitiating the souls of the deceased ancestors for an endless period. It is also described as a privileged fish relished by the saints dwelling in the forests.

"Its beauty matches the pecock, its strength and poise that of a lion & its size that of an elephant, enough to assign it a status of National fish."

During 60's , Mahseer was abundant in Narmada but gradually it has declined to endangered status.Major threats includes damming , urbanisation, development action along eco-system.Therefore, Conservation of Mahseer is important.

Satpura forest and Mahseer are co-related.Forest is havibg habitat for Mahseer unlikeother areas where damming has been performed .Nagdwari is a beautiful place where i got many pictures clicked.Water was flowing from the forest, there were rocks & small plants also.It reminded me of a scene from the movie "The Jungle Book" where Mogli and Ballu went for the bath.

STR was a very unique experience for me . Forest , Water falls , Wildlife , aquatic life , beauty of twilight all at one place.I wish we could have extended our stay there. One of the best experience of my life till now.
